So, Isaac has started (just started) talking in sentences. He has become very verbal, repeating everything we say.
The first sentences he has said have all been, "want cookies," "want Daddy," "want cereal" etc. He also says, "Blue house," "green grass," or "yellow sun." However, not as frequent. He uses a lot of "It's a _____" phrases. Many times he will say, "LOOK!!! It's a ____."
But, the biggest achievement was concurning his injured knee. Isaac hurt his knee the other day. He fell and scraped it really bad on the driveway. He had been limping on it. So, he came out of his room after he woke up early in the morning with a limp. He looks at me and says pointing dramatically at his knee, "KNEE...It's a boo boo."
He put that all together on his own!!!
He has also been carrying around his Nemo fish a lot (a large stuffed fish). He made it climb up the stairs to our attic, saying, "up..up...up...UP." (Dad was up there working) Then he came over to me on the couch and sat down. I asked for a kiss, and he extended his cheek several times for kisses. Then, he made me kiss his fish on the mouth. And then he kissed the fish on the mouth. It really cracked me up.
Also, he was playing with his stuffed elephant one day, and was pretending that it was eating something from the floor. I asked him if he wanted an icecream, and pretended that I had one in my hand. I pretended to lick it and let the elephant eat it. But, when I tried to give the icecream to Isaac, he looked at me like I was crazy. Maybe that was a little bit of a stretch for him. LOL.
His speech therapist told me on Friday that it seems that his imaginitive play is really picking up...so I'm not the only one noticing. I LIKE THAT!
For anyone that doesn't know, most experts claim that autistic children completely lack imaginative play. So, apparently, Isaac has some form of it! It may not be as developed as other children his age, but it is there! And, that gives a good foundation to build on. So, next blog I will post about our move because we are moving primarily to help Isaac. Thankfully, I think we will ALL benefit from the move!
