I think David and I barely survived this week. I had to leave the house two nights because I couldn't take the stress.
Isaac has been in a bad place. It's like he has been in some type of sensory funk for the past two weeks, and then going in the daycare Monday (even though I was with him) has set him off into a bad place. I can't get him to focus. I can scream his name and not get his attention, and he has become extremely restless. Something as simple as someone coming in or out of the room can send him into a meltdown. He has been aggressive at times with all of us, and on Thursday, when I got him up from a nap, he was in a good mood towards me and fairly happy, but he was having such a hard time being touched. I gave him deep pressure touches until I got him down for a diaper change, but when I took off his pants, he gasped and his legs started twitching. He was trying desperately to cover them. I gave him deep pressure touch all over his legs, and afterwards he became really clingy to me. He wanted lots of cuddles!!!
Isaac has spent a lot of time burried under his pillows lately, and he invented a "squeeze machine" of sorts. I've often thought he would do well with one of Temple Grandin's machines. I'll include a picture. He did this all by himself. If a pillow came out of place, he would start crying and asking for help. I gladly helped to tuck the pillow back in which caused him to giggle. The pouty face is from me taking his picture!
DIET UPDATE (click blog title above to read more):
Earlier in the week, Isaac ate a gluten free waffle that we got in frozen foods at Kroger. I noticed immediately that it had a grainy texture--almost like sand. I worried a little about it because Isaac is freaked out by the texture of sand. Well, I ignored my instincts and gave him the waffle (looks identical to the regular waffles that he is accustom to eating), and he took a bite. He started gagging and gagging. He had tears rolling down his face, and he threw up a little. After this, I haven't been able to get him to eat AT ALL!!! He would eat possibly a bite of something small, and go into a gaggin fit!!!!. I was gettting really worried because he was seriously not eating for a few days. He would drink his rice milk and juice, but that was about it. We even tried to give him foods that were off his diet that he loved in the past, but no success.
To my relief, a trip to Arby's on Friday took care of the problem. I even brought some home for dinner. And it seems so far today, we are eating again. But, not entirely gluten free. So, let's just say that last week was a test run of the diet. We are going to try to get back on track by Wednesday next week. He is still casein free, at least!!!
Next week, I'm predicting a week of hell. I'm leaving Isaac in the daycare on Monday. And, he has terrible separation anxiety. So, I'm sure he will be pretty stirred up!!!
